Itinerary: US PASSPORT NEEDED
DAY 1 – dinner – ARRIVE IN PORTLAND OREGON.  We will see Portland and then cross the Columbia River to our overnight in Vancouver, Washington. Our hotel resembles a Northwest lodge.  We will have a group dinner catered by the hotel restaurant which is one of Portland area’s best.DAY 2 – breakfast, lunch – Back to Portland to board our boat for the special voyage along the Willamette and Columbia Rivers from Portland to Astoria.  This is the route of the final days of the Corps of Discovery (Lewis and Clark) Expedition. This cruise is only done twice per year and reveals the scenery and commerce of this great waterway. Breakfast and lunch will be served on board. When we arrive in Astoria, our hotel will be located right on the riverfront with all rooms facing the water.  Dinner is on your own as you relax and watch the river traffic as the sun sets.DAY 3 – breakfast – This morning we will continue our review of the Lewis and Clark Expedition with a visit to the replica of their winter quarters at Fort Clatsop in Lewis and Clark National Historic Park.  After we tour the Fort we will cross the Columbia one last time to get to the Washington side and begin our touring of the Olympic Peninsula.  Here we will learn about the history of logging, cranberries, clams and other sea food that make up the economy of this resource rich area.  Also we will be following parts of the Pacific coast and Indian reservations on the way to our overnight in Olympic National Park, right on the driftwood strewn beach at Kalaloch. Can you say bonfire?  Dinner is on your own at the restaurant on site.

DAY 4 – breakfast – We will continue our visit to Olympic National Park with a visit to the Hoh Rain Forest,  Our day continues as we head for our ferry ride across the Straits of Juan de Fuca to Vancouver Island and our 2 night stay in the beautiful, very British-like city of Victoria, British Columbia.  Our hotel is near the harbor and within walking distance of most of the great attractions.  We will have an orientation tour of our neighborhood before checking in.

DAY 5 – breakfast – Today our day begins with a ride to the world famous Butchart Gardens.  This is not your average garden!  With hundreds of acres, there are theme gardens to view, including the Japanese garden which should be on its best display this time of the year.  You can use the rest of the day to explore other attractions nearer to our hotel including the Parliament building, Miniature World at the Empress Hotel or the most visited museum in Canada, the British Columbia Museum, complete with totem poles.  Dinner is on your own at either our hotel or one of the many restaurants nearby.

DAY 6 – breakfast – After our breakfast, we check out of our hotel to make our way to our next ferry crossing.  On our way we get to see more of Vancouver Island before we cross to the City of Vancouver, BC.  We should keep our eyes open for sea life as we cross.  Once back on land, we will tour Vancouver including the beautiful Stanley Park with its Rain Forest trees and totem poles.  This evening we will have dinner(not included)  at a local restaurant and spend the night in the area.

DAY 7 Today it is back to the good ole USA!  As we travel through the scenic coastal towns and country side of Washington State, we will make stops for views and rest stops while heading for our hotel in Seattle for the final two nights of our journey. We will have a tour of Seattle and some free time to visit the famous Pike Place Market where you can go to the Starbucks Mother Store or watch the fish mongers throw the fish!

DAY 8 – breakfast, dinner –  Mt. Rainier is such an iconic vision as viewed from Seattle but it is even better up close.  We will spend our day in this beautiful national park,  This evening we will have dinner together to celebrate and remember our Pacific Northwest Journey with new friends and lasting memories.

DAY 9 – breakfast – Your tour director will advise you of your departure times as you head home from your JOURNEY WEST.
